The Path to Becoming an Influential Woman in Technology

This webinar session brings together female executives and other impact makers in technology to share insightful thoughts and experiences as they lead game changing businesses that make the world a better place. There is no better time for female leaders to play crucial roles in redefining the future by building a work culture that embraces, encourages, and grooms women to become future leaders.

This session aims to showcase Asian American women leaders in STEM disciplines or industries.  By celebrating female tech leaders, it will aim to encourage more young women to pursue their interests and careers in tech, and in return increase the diversity of the hiring pool.

Keynote Speaker

Luan Cox

Founder and CEO, FinMkt

Luan is the founder and CEO of FinMkt, a best-in-class multi-lender platform and point of sale solution that has processed billions in loan application volume since launching in 2016. Prior to FinMkt, Ms. Cox served as the General Manager and Vice President of Interactive Data Managed Solutions – Americas, Executive Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing for Stockpoint, and Executive Director of Partner Solutions for Quote.com. She is an alumna and advisor to the Springboard Accelerator program comprised of the world’s leading women-led media and technology companies and is a Techstars mentor for its fintech accelerator. In 2019, Ms. Cox was named to NYC FinTech Women’s Inspiring Fintech Females list in recognition of her outstanding leadership and support of the community of women in financial technology. In September of this year, she again joined a prestigious list of female leaders, being named as one of the Top 25 Women Leaders in Financial Technology of 2020 by the Financial Technology Report.

Anshu Kak

Vice President & Distinguished Engineer (DE), IBM

Anshu Kak is a Vice President & Distinguished Engineer (DE) at IBM. She works as a CTO for Financial Service Integrated account.  Prior to that she was an executive for worldwide technical sales and led a Analytics Technical Specialists worldwide which is a multi billion dollar business. She was responsible for the strategy, revenue and direction for the technical sales team. Prior she led the  Software Client Architects globally as well as led Tech Sales Software as a Service business. Anshu is a recognized leader in IBM and software industry broadly for her significant contributions to the industry and her team is responsible for architecting cloud and analytics/AI  solutions for numerous IBM clients. Her team works very closely with the development teams in IBM be it for Hybrid Data Management, Data Governance & Integration or Data Science & Business Integration. Key important role for her is client satisfaction and how IBM clients get business value from IBM software.

She co-leads the Cloud Computing Reference Architecture and member of IBM Architecture Profession Board.  Has written various papers on cloud technology and recently co published  papers on Cognitive computing, Mobile in Cloud and BigData Analytics in Cloud to CSCC (Cloud Standards Customer Council). She also has the responsibility for leading the technical sales teams for expansion of SaaS business for IBM thus specializes in Cloud Computing. Prior to that she was  CTO for Middle East and Africa, to define and work on strategizing how to have IBM penetration in the region, and grow the sales and distribution technical team.  Anshu is recognized as a leader in the deployment of architecture and the design of complex end-to-end client solutions, leveraging her deep technical expertise in Enterprise Architecture, SOA, Cloud  and Cognitive Computing.She has written numerous books on deployment of software and is also part of the Architect and DE board at IBM. She has received numerous awards and accolades from the industry and the recent one was from Asian American Business Development as top 50 Asian Americes in Business.

Maggie Chan Jones

Founder and CEO, Tenshey, Inc.

Maggie is the Founder and CEO of Tenshey, Inc., a tech-enabled executive coaching company that helps more women advance into leadership roles and the boardroom. She is also a seasoned C- level executive, board director, CMO advisor and angel investor, who specializes in marketing, business transformation and technology.

Previously, Maggie was the first woman to become chief marketing officer (CMO) at SAP, the world’s largest enterprise application software provider. In this role, she was responsible for global advertising and brand experience, sponsorships, audience marketing, strategic events, and field and partner marketing functions across 180+ countries. During her tenure, Maggie led the brand transformation of SAP to becoming the world’s 21st most valuable brand, delivered double-digit growth in marketing contribution to business, and advanced talent skills development for the digital economy. She was an executive sponsor for diversity and inclusion, and a member of the SAP Innovation Roundtable.

Prior to joining SAP, Maggie served as the inaugural CMO of the North America region at Level 3 Communications. Before that, she spent over seven years at Microsoft, where she was the marketing director of U.S. Cloud Services and Office 365. Previously, Maggie held leadership and marketing positions at Sun Microsystems and ADIC.

Maggie is frequently recognized as an industry thought-leader in the cutting-edge technology and marketing space with a deep commitment to strengthening leadership teams, and creating a more inclusive, gender equal corporate landscape. She was a recipient of the Women of the Decade in Marketing, Branding and Communication award by Women Economic Forum in 2018; was named one of the top 20 World’s Most Influential CMOs by Forbes in 2017; was acknowledged for creativity and storytelling by the CMO Club Awards; and was named a Top Ten Most Interesting B2B Executives, and Woman of the Year, among other accolades.

Maggie received her undergraduate degree in business management from Binghamton University and holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Cornell University. She serves as a director on the boards of technology companies including Avast (LSE: Avst) and Open Systems. Maggie resides in New York City with her husband and their four-legged kid, a miniature poodle named Charlie.

 

Sophia Leung

Head of Governance, Risk & Control for Cybersecurity & Technology Controls and Fimwide Technology Control Manager, JPMorgan Chase & Co.

Sophia is head of Governance, Risk & Control for Cybersecurity & Technology Controls and Frmwide Technology Control Manage. She is responsible for ensuring a strong and consistent control environment for Global Technology, overseeing all firmwide technology policies, second and third lines of defense engagement, supervisory and regulatory oversight, and cybersecurity partnerships and advocacy, as well as regional leadership within the global Cybersecurity and Technology Controls organization. She is a member of the firm’s Global Technology Operating Committee.

Sophia joined the firm in 2011, and was most recently the Asia Pacific Chief Information Officer (CIO). Prior to joining the firm, Sophia was the Asia Pacific head of Enterprise Infrastructure for Morgan Stanley where she started her career as an IT Trainee and has headed technology groups in New York, London and Hong Kong across a variety of functions, including infrastructure engineering and operations, and in IT Risk and Security Management.

Sophia has a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from Barnard College, Columbia University, and an MBA from Kellogg-HKUST.

Mitzy Nonaka

Flutist and Teaching Artist

Mitzy Nonaka is a freelance flutist and teaching artist based in NYC, and is on faculty at Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, Through the Staff, and JL Music and Dance Studio, in addition to maintaining her own private studio. She enjoys a varied performance career, particularly interested in Orchestral, Contemporary, and Commercial/Studio music. Her degrees were earned at SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Music (BM) and Indiana University Jacobs School of Music (MM). She is also a co-founder of the nonprofit activist ensemble PROTESTRA.
