Youngsuk Chi

Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Academic and Customer Relations, Elsevier


Youngsuk Chi was appointed in June, 2005, as Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Academic and Customer Relations at Elsevier, the leading global publisher of scientific, technical and medical information products and services. He had been the Chairman of Random House Asia since November 2001, after serving as the President of Random House, the largest general interest book publisher in the world. Mr. Chi, known as Y.S., had been responsible for its expansion into Asia by seeking new areas of growth.

Mr. Chi graduated from Princeton University with a BA in Economics cum laude and earned his MBA in Finance at Columbia University.


Mr. Chi serves as a trustee of Princeton University and a board member of Princeton University Press, Korean American Community Foundation, Asian American Alumni Association of Princeton, the Ivy Club and Montgomery Bell Academy. At Princeton University, he also serves as a member of the Council of Princeton University Community, East Asian Studies Department Advisory Council and National Schools Committee. In the past, he served at McCarter Theatre, Watkins College of Art and Design, Family & Children Services, New York Academy of Science and Community Foundation of Belgium.
